Clinical Evaluationn of Pirprofen in the Neurosurgical Patients





Abstract
Clinical evaluation for analgesic effect of pirprofen was done in the neurosurgical patients. Total number of the patients was 50. Overall good analgesic effect was dependent on the disease characteristics and pre-treatment pain intensity; analgesic effect was different in each disease entities. Good analgesic effect was noted in 81% of post operative patients, 86% of non-surgical benign patients and 77% of post traumatic patients but only 67%, of patients with malignant brain tumor, Maximum analgesic effect was noted in 1 hours after treatment and analgesic effect was lasted until 6 hours. Adverse reaction was found in only 3 patients but not serious. In conclusion, pirprofen is an effective non-narcotic analgesic on post operative pain, non-surgical benign pain and post-traumatic pain without serious adverse reaction.
